A corded phone is a must in the event of a power outage. To me, Motorola has always been on the forefront of two-way radio communications, so why not in cordless home phone two-way communications? I have had my eyes on some past corded/cordless Motorola models but this black one fits the bill quite nicely. Having wireless LAN at home, it's nice to know there will be no interference with this DECT 6.0 technology. The nice soft orange glow of the display is easy on the eyes. The user interface (UI) was very easy to use. I didn't have to read the manual at all for everything was spelled out on the display, clear and simple. Linking the second handset, I purchased, was effortless. The small profile of the charging cradle is a big plus for it takes up minimal space on the nightstand. I only have one con, no lit keypad on the base or cordless handset. I would still HIGHLY recommend this phone.

I purchased this phone as a replacement for an old Panasonic set. I was impressed by its clean design and compact size, both of which were great when I received the unit. However, the keypad on the base unit is awful. The "keys" are flat pieces of rubber, which feel flimsy and make the dialing action extremely imprecise. I had to listen for the audible beep as I dialed each digit to be sure they were entered.

Too bad an otherwise excellent phone is ruined by this simple design botch. Fortunately, the unit comes in a simple package that makes it easy to repack for return shipping.

We are basically happy with this phone, especially for the price, but there are a couple of things prospective buyers should know. First, the set-up instructions for the wall-mount unit are incomplete and I had to call customer service, where someone explained to me in an apologetic voice how to break a plastic tab free from the phone, flip it over, and reinstall it as a cradle for the handset. A simple enough process, but Motorola completely forgot to mention it in the instructions. I will say that customer service answered right away without a lengthy menu of options. Second, there is no flashing light option to notify you of new voice mail messages. There is an intermittent "beep" option, which I turned off as being too annoying for our pets who might be forced to listen to it for hours while we were out. If you don't like the beep, however, you have to remember to check the display screen when you come home for notice of new messages. Other than these glitches, it's fine.

Having owned a Motorola Corded Base/Cordless Handset phone system in the past I did not hesitate to purchase this system when the old one needed to be replaced. What a major disappointment! The speakerphone, which we use 98% of the time, was no where near Motorola standards. The voice quality was inferior and the volume level was inadequate. It sounded like a AM station on an old tube type radio. The speakerphone volume was so low it was necessary to hold the phone next to my ear, which defeats the whole purpose of having a speakerphone. This is going back tomorrow.

I bought this phone recently and returned the panasonic set. This phone looks great with easy set up. Sound quality is very good when using speaker phone - this is mainly what I was looking for. Keypad could have been designed better but it does not bother me too much.

Highly recommend it for the price.
